Veggie Grill Brings Plant-Forward Movement into Catering

Veggie Grill is betting the popularity of plant-based menu items will ease its entry into the crowded catering market.
The meat-free chain is entering the field with a menu devoid of animal proteins, eggs or dairy products. The all-vegetable selections range in price from a chips, salsa and guacamole platter that serves six to eight people, at $19.99, to a box of 12 meatless burgers, four of them made with a Beyond Meat-brand patty, for $135.95. A dozen of the Beyond burgers is priced at $129.95.
Other options made with meat analogs include a taco salad that serves up to 20 people ($64.95), a platter of a dozen Santa Fe Crispy Chickin’ sandwiches ($99.95) and a serving of 48 “chicken wings” ($79.95).
The West Coast-based chain is aiming for midday office business with a boxed lunch consisting of a sandwich, cookie and potato chips ($15.95 each for a minimum of eight orders).
Bottled water is offered as a beverage.
Customers currently have to pick up their orders from a Veggie Grill branch, but the chain says that delivery will soon be added through a third party.
Veggie Grill currently has 34 locations, including outlets on college campuses.
